Finger Lakes Bike TrailsSummer is just around the corner and there may be no better way to greet the season than from atop a bike saddle on one of the many Finger Lakes bike trails!

There is a lot to see and do in the Finger Lakes region, no matter the time of year. Once the weather warms up, though, getting out and soaking up all that the great outdoors have to offer is a must.

Our area offers cyclists a wide variety of bike trails and paths to choose from. Long trails and short trails, on-road, off-road, easy, hard, and everything in between! Many of the guests to our Canandaigua B&B are cycling enthusiasts, so we’ve put together a short list of popular and more moderate Finger Lakes bike trails with them – and you! – in mind.

Catharine Valley Trail 12-15 miles map
The Catharine Valley Trail is located between Watkins Glen and Midway in a former rail bed. The trail begins at the southern point of Seneca Lake, near the marina and Harbor Hotel in downtown Watkins Glen. The mostly flat trail is in contrast to the otherwise hilly region and provides some awesome scenery. Take the trail to Horseheads to easily extend your trip to 15 miles.

Canadice Lake Trail 8-9 miles map
The Canadice Lake Trail is a multi-use gravel and grass track that runs along the lake’s west side. Venture off onto the more difficult side trails to extend your ride another mile.

Crooked Lake Canal 7 miles map
This trail, also known as the Keuka Outlet Trail, connects the Keuka and Seneca lakes. Consequently, it is absolutely LOADED with gorgeous scenery, including waterfalls! The trail is multi-use, so watch for hikers.

Seneca Lake
The Seneca Lake area offers a variety of different trails. Popular loops a 7-mile Sampson State Park loop around the lake’s eastern shore. A different, 9-mile, paved loop can be found at the north end of the lake in Lakeshore Park.
