If you love fresh, pure maple, you do not want to miss NYS Maple Weekend 2018! Every year at this time, Maple Weekend provides a chance to learn the maple sugaring process and to sample a variety of fresh, New York State maple treats. March 17th and 18th, 24th and 25th, 2018.
Spring is sproinging all around us and, here in sugar maple country that means it’s maple sugaring time! Every year, between mid-February and mid-April, the temperatures rise enough for the maple sap to begin flowing. Once it does, sugarmakers across the region begin the age-old process of tapping trees, hanging buckets, collecting sap, and boiling it down into that sweet and sticky treat we all know and love: pure maple syrup!
New York is the second largest maple producing state in the country. In celebration of our state’s massive annual maple harvest, the NYS Maple Producers Association has organized the annual NYS Maple Weekend.
NYS Maple Weekend 2018 is your chance to come see the maple sugarmaking process up close at local farms across the state. Better yet, you’ll also have opportunities to sample pure maple in its many forms – and all fresh from the source!
Many sugarmakers and restaurants will also be offering pancake breakfasts, or other special, maple-based meals. Wagon rides, live entertainment, and other festivities are also commonplace.
Sugarmakers across the state participate in NYS Maple Weekend 2018. In fact, there are 10 participating producers within 30 miles of our Canadaigua B&B, Sutherland House! The closest is Stoney Ridge Farms, who are just 10 miles up the road in Palmyra (625 County Road 28, Palmyra, NY 1452).

Maple Weekend is actually two weekends – March 17th and 18th and March 24th and 25th. Don’t fret if you can’t make the NYS Maple Weekend 2018 weekend dates, though. Many sugarhouses will be host tours, breakfasts, and other events throughout the maple sugaring season and outside Maple Weekend.
