“Sonnenberg” is German for “sunny hill” – and that is a fitting, if rather understated, name for one of our country’s most extensively preserved Victorian era country estates. Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park is 50 acres of formal and informal gardens surrounding historic Sonnenberg Mansion. The estate is one of just two public gardens in the New York State Parks System.

NYS Maple Weekend 2018If you love fresh, pure maple, you do not want to miss NYS Maple Weekend 2018! Every year at this time, Maple Weekend provides a chance to learn the maple sugaring process and to sample a variety of fresh, New York State maple treats. March 17th and 18th, 24th and 25th, 2018.

Spring is sproinging all around us and, here in sugar maple country that means it’s maple sugaring time! Every year, between mid-February and mid-April, the temperatures rise enough for the maple sap to begin flowing. Once it does, sugarmakers across the region begin the age-old process of tapping trees, hanging buckets, collecting sap, and boiling it down into that sweet and sticky treat we all know and love: pure maple syrup!

Sonnenberg Gardens Oktoberfest Party 2017The first annual Sonnenberg Gardens Oktoberfest Party is almost here. Come out to Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park September 29th, 2017, 5:30pm to 9pm for an Oktoberfest celebration featuring live music, beer, wine, and delicious food!

Oktoberfest is a long standing German tradition typically held from mid-to-late September and ending the first weekend in October. The festival involves lots of food, beer, and good cheer. The event is Germany’s largest festival, lasting up to 18 days and annually attracting more than 6 million people from around the world.
