Geneva Music Festival‘s Thelonious Monk Centennial CelebrationThe Geneva Music Festival is hosting a Thelonious Monk Centennial Celebration with the legend’s son, T.S. Monk, and special guest Syndee Winters. June 9th at the Smith Opera House in Geneva, NY.

American jazz pianist and composer, Thelonious Monk, may have passed away in 1982 but his effect on the genre continues to echo on. Monk’s unique improvisational style made him a controversial figure during his early years in the jazz world. His numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, however, dispelled doubts of his genius. He remains the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington.
