Once the New Year has come and gone things can seem pretty quiet during these long, cold winter months. As anyone who has ever visited knows, however, there is always something to do in the Finger Lakes and frigid February is no exception! In fact, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the annual Finger Lakes Frostfest!

Finger Lakes Frostfest may only be four years old but it has already gained a popular reputation, and why not? Where else can you enjoy full-scale ice sculptures with your drink and delicious local eats?

The ice sculptures at Finger Lakes Frostfest help to make this event so popular. If you’ve never seen a large one up close, you owe yourself the experience. Viewed in a group and in an outdoor setting, such as along the shores of Seneca Lake at Finger Lakes Frostfest, these fascinating works of art look almost otherworldly.

Another type of ice sculpture at Frostfest is also likely to catch your attention – the Ice Bars! Frostfest’s Ice Bars will make sure you don’t go thirsty with a variety of drinks and cocktails. The highlight, of course, is the signature Frostfest Martinis, poured through an ice luge into your glass.

Ice sculptures certainly take center stage at the Finger Lakes Frostfest but they’re not the only reason to attend!

Finger Lakes Frostfest 2018 also includes plenty to eat with both food tastings and vendors offering a variety of delicious, local plates. Better yet, you can enjoy them inside! Frostfest takes place both along the shores of Lake Geneva and inside the Ramada.

Along with all the food and drink, Frostfest also includes some great, live DJ’s spinning lots of popular, upbeat tunes. It all comes to an awesome end with a spectacular fireworks display from the Geneva City pier.

You’ll Have a Vine Time at the 2017 Naples Grape Festival!

August 18, 2017 by Corey A. Edwards

Naples Grape Festival 2017Come one, come all to the Naples Grape Festival! This Finger Lakes tradition, celebrated every autumn since 1961, is two days of live music, arts & crafts, food, drink, and everything grape. September 23 & 24, 2017 in Naples, NY.

The Naples Grape Festival has been celebrating everything grape every year, the last full weekend in September, since 1961. Thousands of visitors come from all around to enjoy the festivities. And why not? This wonderful Finger Lakes tradition has something for everyone – a testament to the versatility of the grape!

The local grape harvest is the impetus behind the festival and is represented in myriad ways throughout the event. Pies, breads, jams, ice creams, juices, fresh grapes, and more will remind you what the celebration is all about.

There will also be a wide variety of Finger Lakes Region wines at the Wine Tasting Tent. Adults over the age of 21 may enter to sample and purchase from a variety of vintners. Many of the wines featured in the tent are difficult to find elsewhere. The Naples Grape Festival represents a unique opportunity to add some unique and rare wines to your cellar.

Another “grape” big draw to the Naples Grape Festival is the World’s Greatest Grape Pie contest. Wait … grape pie?

Grape pies were created in the 1950’s and remain fairly unique to the Naples area. If you’ve never tried one, well, come out to the festival and you’ll have the chance to try a variety of them. Maybe even The World’s Greatest! The grape pie contest sees dozens of bakers competing for the honor of seeing their creation named “word’s best.” Not to mention the $100 1st prize …

The Arts & Crafts at the Naples Grape Festival are jury selected and remain a proud annual showcase of the talented Finger Lakes artisans. Vendors will display a wide variety of fine, one-of-a-kind, handmade items for the perfect, early-holiday gift shopping experience.

The Naples Grape Festival also sees an excellent selection of locally-made edibles to choose from. No taste bud goes untickled at this event, with vendors offering everything from crepes and Italian sausage to grilled pizza and steak on a stick. A great variety of drinks will be on hand to wash it all down with, too – from fresh squeezed lemonade and smoothies to a host of regional craft beers.

The final incentive for attending the Naples Grape Festival is the all the great live music. Every year, the festival selection committee searches out the best regional artists for a nice blend of rock, blues, jazz, and more. The variety assures everyone a good, toe-tapping time.
